Capital City African Violet Society, organized in 1952 and affiliated with the African Violet Society of America and the Northern California Council of African Violet Societies, meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. The club is devoted exclusively to the raising and propagation of African violets and is related to the Delta Gesneriad and African Violet Society. Meetings feature educational programs and refreshments are served. The club actively seeking new members and guests are welcome.

The Joan Coulat - Sacramento Branch of the American Begonia Society is the means for an introduction to the dynamics and fun of begonias. Meetings are held monthly on the third Tuesday (except Feb. and Nov.) at 7:00 p.m. and feature educational programs, seed plant and exchanges, demonstrations, new species presentations, as well as a plant drawing. The group is thrilled to share begonias and begonia talk with anyone new to begonias.

The American Bonsai Association of Sacramento meets at 6:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public and almost always include a knowledgeable speaker who is either a club member or a sensei from another area who have received formal training in bonsai. The art of creating miniaturized trees or developing woody plants shaped like trees and growing them in containers is the focus of the Capital City Bonsai Association. Meetings, scheduled on an irregular basis, provide information on cultivation includes techniques for shaping, watering, and repotting in various styles of containers. Bromeliad & Carnivorous Plant Society

The Bromeliads and Carnivorous Plants Society meets at 7:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month except in December and January. Our meeting topics include growing and propagation, taxonomy, and information about the natural habitats of these unusual plants. We also bring in guest speakers and occasionally discuss other plant varieties. We hold plant raffles each month and sponsor an annual show and sale in June. The show is non-competitive, and people are encouraged to bring striking and unusual plants to display.

Sacramento Valley Cymbidium Society was formed in 2004. The club meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month except July, August, and December at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m. for all meetings). In addition to supporting the Shepard Garden and Art Center spring and fall shows, and hosting their own show and sale in March, the club hosts speaking engagements at garden events and nurseries as a way of introducing people to the wonderful world of growing orchids outdoors. The American Fuchsia Society is dedicated to the purpose of acquainting flower enthusiasts with the beauty of fuchsias and teaching techniques for growing healthy blooming plants. Sacramento Center for the Textile Arts celebrates the link between the creative individual and the artwork of textiles. SCTA offers a wide range of programs for practicing artists, collectors, and all who appreciate fiber arts. The group provides textile arts programs each month except December. Satsuki Aikokai Association

Translated into English, "Satsuki" means "fifth month." The Satsuki Aikokai Association focuses on the use of late blooming Azaleas with spectacular blooms and color combinations on the same plant to create exceptional bonsai sculptures. Meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the third Monday of the month except December and January with a program presentation at each one. Additional workshops are held on weekends in the spring and fall at a local Bonsai nursery. If you have an interest in this specialized form of bonsai, come to a meeting and learn more.

We learn to create unique arrangements for every day use and for special occasions and are introduced to basic and new techniques. The Sacramento Weavers' and Spinners' Guild encourages growth in the art of weaving, spinning and dyeing, by means of interchange of ideas, research and contact with experts in the field. The Guild offers members the opportunities to get together and share through meetings, workshops and lectures. The business meeting begins at 10:00 a.m. and the program with guest lecturers follows at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m., with a break for lunch.
