Capitol City African Violet Society, organized in 1952 and affiliated with the African Violet Society of America and the Northern California Council of African Violet Societies, meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.  The club is devoted exclusively to the raising and propagation of African violets and is related to the Delta Gesneriad and African Violet Society.  Meetings feature educational programs and refreshments are served. The Delta Gesneriad and African Violet Society, organized in 1987, is dedicated to African violets and their “cousins”. The art of creating miniaturized trees or developing woody plants shaped like trees and growing them in containers is the focus of the Capital City Bonsai Association. Translated into English, “Satsuki” means “fifth month”. The Satsuki Aikokai Association focuses on the use of late blooming Azaleas with spectacular booms and color combinations on the same plant to create exceptional bonsai sculptures.  Meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the third Monday of the month from September through June with a program presentation at each one.
