Welcome
It is the mission of the
Shepard Garden and Arts Center to coordinate the efforts and
resources of its member clubs and promote an interest in gardening,
horticulture, flower arranging, conservation, history, antiques and
the arts, including painting, photography, ceramics, metal work,
weaving, and other related arts and crafts such as landscape design,
architecture, movies, color and design, woodcarving, metal work,
mosaics, and other home crafts and the collecting of artifacts.
To further this mission it
is the objective of the Shepard Garden and Arts Center to create a
happier and more beautiful community by sharing garden inspirations;
foster more and better gardens; add interest and culture to home
life through the promotion of such related arts as landscape design,
flower arrangement, painting, photography, weaving, ceramics,
woodcarving, metal work and other related crafts.
The Shepard
Garden and Arts Center
will serve as a place where programs and shows can be shared with
the general public and service as a meeting place for member clubs,
their programs, classes and workshops.
The Center shall perform a public service by means of
educational programs on gardening, related arts, shows, tours, study
classes; it will serve as a repository for books and bulletins of
interest to its members and will support the City of Sacramento
Recreation and Parks and California Garden Clubs in civic planning,
conservation of native plant life, natural resources, and historic
treasures.
